Fonix Corporation, Draper, Utah
1997 to 1999
Research Programmer
Extensive Mathcad research programming expertise. AWK experience for large scale text manipulation. Research programming has included utterance signal filtering and marking for automating small vocabulary systems pallette making, compression, and synthesis.
Image Management Systems, Inc.,
Hanover Park, Illinois 1996 to 1997
Regional Sales Manager
Sales of imaging services for conversion of paper and microfilm documents and drawings to electronic images includes considerable experience with scanning and OCR software.
Quaker Oats Company 1979 to 1996
Research programming in Pascal on the UCSD
P-System. Extensive expertise in microwave heating and energy.
Microwaves for kitchen microwave ovens are roughly the same
wavelength as speech signals. Wrote Pascal program for modeling
microwave heating. Wrote programs for digitizing shapes including
laser and servo motion control for 3 D digitization. Built a
press based on human mouth characteristics for crunching ready to
eat cereals. Wrote comprehensive program for controlling a
digital oscilloscope using IEEE 488 interface to analyze 60
aspects of the sound of crunches.
Created and managed an intramural expertise database of around
300 researchers interested in communicating with and helping
other researchers. Experienced with ZYIndex for searching and
maintaining this database. Experienced with creating, maintaining
and searching Folio text databases.
Senior Development Scientist, Digital Image Analysis, and Microwave
Applications Laboratory. 1995 to 1996Responsible to identify significant added value and cost savings opportunities by creatively using advanced data gathering and analysis techniques.
- Introduced the following projects:
- Added value of $300,000 through milling process control, combining digital image analysis, advanced data gathering, and artificial intelligence.
- Cost savings of $750,000 applying image analysis and artificial intelligence to enable buyers of raw ingredients to pay for accurately predicted yield.
- Cost savings of $250,000 using artificial intelligence to aid replacing an expensive test method with a cheaper but potentially more precise test.
- Instructed classes at McDonald's Hamburger University on microwave modeling of complex food systems in support of this major Food Service client.
Research Scientist, Digital Image Analysis, and Microwave Applications.
